Robert Griffin The Third can be on IR effective today, but Antonio Gates is ineligible to play until Sat 9/19 (Antonio Gates was put on IR on Sun August 30th) & Antonio Gate's salary will count against your salary cap.
What is your logic to put RG3 on IR? To save $250,000 against your salary cap?
n. INJURED RESERVE (IR) RULE
i. Only 1 player may be on IR at a time
ii. His salary does not count against the salary cap
iii. Once a player is put on IR, he is ineligible to play for that team for 3 weeks
1. That player can come off IR before that time, but he still can’t play until 3 weeks from the day he was placed on IR
iv. Before WEEK 1 of the season begins, owners may switch out their player on IR at any time - the 3 week ineligibility does not apply.-updated 9/8/15
